I remember when I was in my twenties and starting out on my personal journey of self discovery, I met an ex Pan Am Captain who had a wrist watch with the words NOW repeated all around the face of the watch in place of the numbers. It was a great reminder of the importance of staying present with what is.
In this second blog on improving your relationship with yourselves and your environment, I want to discuss mindfulness and give you a great meditation to use on a daily basis. Aside from being an essential aspect of living with Reiki and giving a Reiki treatment, mindfulness extends to every waking moment of your life when you live with awareness of the NOW. One of the first teachings my Reiki Master June Woods gave me in 1993 was “Just relax and let it flow dear.. Reiki knows where to go”. I still tell my own students this and when they are doubtful of their own capacity to give Reiki, I suggest, not making it about them but instead make it about the person receiving. I was also taught that there was no need to be concerned about the outcome of a healing or get myself involved in diagnosis because I was simply a channel through which the energy flows. The idea that Reiki flows to where it is needed most and is an intelligent life force energy that requires no direction is still taught today but there are questions that have arisen in me through my practice of Reiki and this week I wish to discuss the question; “Do we direct Reiki or just let it flow?” Continue reading →
This week I am writing about Distant Healing. I use the practice of distant healing every day in many different ways and It’s effectiveness never fails to amaze me.
Distant Healing is the name we give to the process of sending Reiki outside of time and space. This could be to someone or something that is in a distant location from us or in a different time to us either in the past or future. We use a specific symbol sequence which enables us to do this grouped around the Distant Healing Symbol. Continue reading →
This is the third and final blog in my series on preparing yourself for a Reiki treatment. This week I am giving some useful tips on how to clear your energy after a Reiki treatment and alter your perception of the energies you encounter.
In the mindfulness meditation given in my previous blog you will have developed a sense of your own thoughts and feelings as a present day process. The importance of this is to develop self awareness and know what you’re feeling and where prior to the treatment so any changes that occur to your mood or energy as a result of the Reiki experience are attributed to the effects of merging with your client and you don’t think of them as yours. This is the second in my series of Blogs on preparing yourself for a Reiki treatment. This week I am giving some useful tips on how to develop mindfulness and utilise Gassho Meiso (Meditation) so that we know what we are feeling within ourselves and how this benefits us when doing Byosen Reikan Ho.
Byosen Reikan Ho is a technique which refers to scanning someone else’s energy field to perceive areas of disharmony or disease. Whenever there is a disease in a person there will always be sensations in their energy field referred to in Japanese as hibiki meaning resonance. The premise being that if something exists on the physical level it will also exist on subtler levels either as an emotion in the emotional body, an idea or thought in the mental body or an energy signature in the etheric body. In the next three weeks I will be writing a series of blogs describing in detail great methods for space clearing and preparation. Also how to prepare ourselves for healing so that we are mindful of what we are feeling before, during and after a treatment and also how to release the effects of the session with our client once the treatment has ended.
I recently returned from a retreat in Glastonbury where I had deliberately asked spirit to arrange a change in the weather as the prediction wasn’t going to serve me and my group at all. The resulting sunshine created an interesting discussion around the breakfast table of the power of the Reiki symbols to support clear intention. One of the group told me I should blog about the experience I had in Hawaii with the Reiki power symbol that I opened my book Reiki and the Seven Chakras with. Further bellow is the extract from the book. Continue reading →
With this weeks equinox and new moon the emphasis is on new beginnings and I want to share an exercise I do with many of my clients to help you clarify what you want. It’s often the case that we can reel off for hours and hours all the things in life we don’t want, but when someone asks us what we do want, it becomes really difficult to answer the question.
I spend a lot of time with clients clarifying what they want because unless we actually know where we are heading, we cannot hope to achieve our desired outcomes. It is important not only in terms of goals we set for ourselves in the material sense but also the goals we set for our personal development and inner peace and balance. Continue reading →
I have decided to share a tale of trusting the universe to provide. It was 16 years ago, I didn’t have a care in the world and was travelling through Israel and Egypt…. It goes something like this..
It was hot. The driver on the coach had warned me not to walk, but I had slept through my stop and the only way back was on foot. The Dead Sea in July reaches 50’c and with only a few sips of water left, I was starting to realize the driver was right. The road snaked ahead of me with nothing but rock and salt either side. I laughed out loud. It seemed ages ago now, but it was only this morning I had decided to miss my flight home and head south from Jerusalem. I wanted to take in the Dead Sea and then head down to Elat, cross the border into the Sinai and then on down into Nuweba. Continue reading →
Following on from my recent blog on Reiki and Protection, I would like to discuss The Ego development and how it contributes to our notion of a Polarised Universe.
I love the Chakra system as an illustration of the journey we make into conscious awareness. Starting with our conception we begin the process of building ourselves in shape and form as millions of years of intelligent evolution programmed in our DNA sets to work at an incredible rate. If all goes well, by the time of our birth in a little under ten months we have all our fingers and toes and are thrust into the world with little more than a very loud cry to get what we need. From these precarious beginnings we begin to build the foundations on which we will develop to varying degrees our sense of self. This early development is designed to seat consciousness in the physical body. Fusing with the material dimension, we begin to differentiate between physical sensations in the body and those in the environment. A baby bites a blanket and it doesn’t hurt whereas it bites it’s own thumb and it does. So the baby begins to identify itself as separate from it’s environment like a secondary birth. The first being that from it’s Mother, the second from the World itself. Continue reading →
