This is the third and final blog in my series on preparing yourself for a Reiki treatment. This week I am giving some useful tips on how to clear your energy after a Reiki treatment and alter your perception of the energies you encounter.
In the mindfulness meditation given in my previous blog you will have developed a sense of your own thoughts and feelings as a present day process. The importance of this is to develop self awareness and know what you’re feeling and where prior to the treatment so any changes that occur to your mood or energy as a result of the Reiki experience are attributed to the effects of merging with your client and you don’t think of them as yours. This is the second in my series of Blogs on preparing yourself for a Reiki treatment. This week I am giving some useful tips on how to develop mindfulness and utilise Gassho Meiso (Meditation) so that we know what we are feeling within ourselves and how this benefits us when doing Byosen Reikan Ho.
Byosen Reikan Ho is a technique which refers to scanning someone else’s energy field to perceive areas of disharmony or disease. Whenever there is a disease in a person there will always be sensations in their energy field referred to in Japanese as hibiki meaning resonance. The premise being that if something exists on the physical level it will also exist on subtler levels either as an emotion in the emotional body, an idea or thought in the mental body or an energy signature in the etheric body. I recently returned from a retreat in Glastonbury where I had deliberately asked spirit to arrange a change in the weather as the prediction wasn’t going to serve me and my group at all. The resulting sunshine created an interesting discussion around the breakfast table of the power of the Reiki symbols to support clear intention. One of the group told me I should blog about the experience I had in Hawaii with the Reiki power symbol that I opened my book Reiki and the Seven Chakras with. Further bellow is the extract from the book. Continue reading →
I have decided to share a tale of trusting the universe to provide. It was 16 years ago, I didn’t have a care in the world and was travelling through Israel and Egypt…. It goes something like this..
It was hot. The driver on the coach had warned me not to walk, but I had slept through my stop and the only way back was on foot. The Dead Sea in July reaches 50’c and with only a few sips of water left, I was starting to realize the driver was right. The road snaked ahead of me with nothing but rock and salt either side. I laughed out loud. It seemed ages ago now, but it was only this morning I had decided to miss my flight home and head south from Jerusalem. I wanted to take in the Dead Sea and then head down to Elat, cross the border into the Sinai and then on down into Nuweba. Continue reading →
Following on from my recent blog on Reiki and Protection, I would like to discuss The Ego development and how it contributes to our notion of a Polarised Universe.
I love the Chakra system as an illustration of the journey we make into conscious awareness. Starting with our conception we begin the process of building ourselves in shape and form as millions of years of intelligent evolution programmed in our DNA sets to work at an incredible rate. If all goes well, by the time of our birth in a little under ten months we have all our fingers and toes and are thrust into the world with little more than a very loud cry to get what we need. From these precarious beginnings we begin to build the foundations on which we will develop to varying degrees our sense of self. This early development is designed to seat consciousness in the physical body. Fusing with the material dimension, we begin to differentiate between physical sensations in the body and those in the environment. A baby bites a blanket and it doesn’t hurt whereas it bites it’s own thumb and it does. So the baby begins to identify itself as separate from it’s environment like a secondary birth. The first being that from it’s Mother, the second from the World itself. Continue reading →
This week I wish to discuss Reiki Attunements. They are an intrinsic part of the Reiki training process and provide the energetic link through the unbroken lineage of Masters Teachers back to Dr Usui the founder of Usui Shiki Ryoho.
There are many variations of passing attunements and I personally have experienced at least six different methods each of which had it’s own particular quality. When it comes to the process of giving an attunement, I admit to have had days where I wondered if simply just sitting in the room with clear intent would suffice and if I had more courage I would love to invite Master Teachers to sit quietly for their attunement until they felt it had taken place rather than me telling them it has, after all it happened that way for Dr Mikao Usui as there was no one else there to anchor the attunement for him. Before you all jump to the conclusion that this is an unashamed attempt at promoting my own book title, I would like to explain…
James deacon who I might add I am a great fan of has highlighted the fact that many New Age Reiki practices include the chakras as part of their training and questions their validity. Dr Usui appeared not to include Chakra theory in his practice and the Ryoho Shishin suposedly his original treatment guide does not mention them. However it must be said that the Ryoho Shishin is little more than a list of ailments and area’s of the body that should be treated and was intended as a resource for new students who were unable to scan or sense the area of need in a patient through practices like Byosen Reikan Ho. This week I wish to talk about the validity of Distant attunements in the Reiki practice. With the growing trend in internet training, there are many distant Reiki courses cropping up all over the Web with the bulk of the training given as correspondence and the initiation given from a distance. Proponents of these courses cite convenience and cost as the main incentives to study this way. Firstly, being able to fit your Reiki course into your busy life, studying when you want to and receiving the attunements in the quiet of your own home are certainly good arguments for this method of training. Secondly the cost of remote courses is generally lower than the more traditional weekend format where your teacher is present. Continue reading →
